5 New York spots from Sex and The City

When I visited New York for the first time earlier in the year, one of the highlights of my trip was visiting Carrie’s fictional address in the West Village: the doorstep where she has stepped out in numerous chic outfits and pompous dresses (all of which I have dreamed of owning), on her way out on the town with Miranda and co., and where she has received several romantic doorstep kisses from mr. Big, Aidan… But! Many other places in the show are worth visiting, so I thought I’d share some of them with you, so you too can take a tour of Carrie’s New York on your next visit!

1. Where Carrie and Miranda ate cupcakes!
On my birthday (yup, I had the best ever 23rd birthday in New York back in march!) I had my birthday cake at Magnolia Bakery where Carrie and Miranda ate cupcakes when Miranda admitted to Carrie that she was in love with Steve. Sofie (my friend and travel companion) and I sad on the curb and enjoyed our cupcakes in the sun. Yum!

2. Where Carrie and mr. Big was getting married… But didn’t.
… ‘Cause mr. Big failed to show up – as per usual – at the last minute, and left a somewhat shaken and furious Carrie behind. The wedding was supposed to take place at the New York Public Library in midtown. It is open to the public, so do take time to visit – it’s absolutely beautiful! Oh yeah, and if you’ve seen “The Day after Tomorrow” you might recognize the library from when it was a “sanctuary” in the film!

3. Where Miranda and Steve reunite!
Oh how I love this scene.. When Miranda makes her pros/cons list in order to decide if whether she wants to give Steve another chance (after he has cheated on her – once), and her “milk mustache” reminds her of how all the pros and cons don’t matter because she loves him. And then they meet halfway on the Brooklyn Bridge, where their happy and relieved eyes meet! Watch or re-watch the scene here:

4. Where Carrie and mr. Big fall into the lake in Central Park.
Most SATC-fans remember the hilarious scene when Carrie and mr. Big meet at the Boathouse Restaurant in Central Park to have lunch for the first time after their affair (that didn’t end so well). It gets awkward when they meet and Big tries to kiss Carrie; in an attempt to avoid the kiss, she falls into the water and pulls Big in, too.

5. Where Carrie Bradshaw lives!
In the show Carrie lives on the Upper East Side, but the apartment that has been used for filming in the show is located in a beautiful brownstone building in West Village (and this neighborhood is far nicer than the Upper East Side, if you ask me), just around the corner from Magnolia Bakery. So why not visit Carrie next time you’re in NYC? 😉

1. Her spiste Carrie og Miranda cupcakes!

Haps!

2. Her skulle Carrie og mr. Big giftes… Men blev det ikke.
… For mr.

3. Her genforenes Miranda og Steve!

4. That awkward moment… Da Carrie og mr. Big vælter i Central Park-søen.

5. Her bor Carrie Bradshaw!
