Best Pizzeria in Rome

dsc08928

On our first night in Rome we decided to check out the Pizzeria Ai Marmi in Trastevere. I always, always make an effort to track down the most authentic places, and avoid tourist traps (and there are a lot of those in cities like Rome, believe me), and Pizzeria Ai Marmi is a find that I was extremely excited about! So, elbow-to-elbow we sat amongst a mix of locals and tourists who, like us, had managed to track down what I believe to be Rome’s very best pizzeria.

The restaurant is almost always packed, and I can understand why. The pizzas are – of course – stone oven, and prepared with fresh, seasonal produce.
You might have to wait for a table, but trust me – you’ll be glad you did! Besides, you’ll experience waiting for a table in all worthwhile Roman restaurants. I had the onion pizza (tomato, cheese, onion) and the tomato sauce alone gave me quite a mouthgasm (yes, that’s a word apparently).
